Christmas Eve!

Wow!!! I can't believe it is already here... It comes fast when you wait until the last minute to get started. I did finish up my shopping on Monday though, and I called it done... Today I have spent my time cooking a boat load of mexican food to feed my family tomorrow... I also made a few desserts... So I can't wait to eat up.... I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas. I hope Santa brings you every thing you asked for.... I'll be back in a few day's to share a little project I just finished.... MERRY CHRISTMAS

Where have I been?

I didn't realize it had been so long since I've posted, but life has been so crazy, and considering the time of year it is, I'm sure your lives have been busy as well.... I've been doing a lot of projects, my most recent, gift bags. I bought some clearance bags at Target and made them my own and I think they turned out real cute... Tfl

Scrapmojo Challenge!!

The girls here have done it again... They have come up with a great challenge. The challenge is to make a statement, use your layout as a soap box, and add ink... Well I don't have a statement to make, but I came across an essay my son wrote his senior year of High School and he has a statement to make... He's young and very opinionated: His essay reads:

This I Believe

What do I believe you ask? I believe in freedom. Freedom from oppression, freedom of thought, freedom of anything you can think of. I believe people have the choice to do what they want and regardless of what people say or think they should pursue their goals no matter how big the challenge. Many people look at me and think “Why does he dress like that, why does he do the things he does?” You know why? Because I want to, I’m my own person and I’m going to do as I please. Some people may think my dreams and goals are stupid, but as long as they make me happy then what does it matter. I have a freedom many people don’t have, the freedom of thought. No one can choose my mountain to climb, only I can. Many people follow in the footsteps of their parents and do what everyone wants them to. They are always looking for a way to make mommy and daddy proud, but when it comes down to it, they aren’t happy. Sure, they may be wealthy, have a big house, and be the CEO of a multi-million dollar corporation. If that” floats someone’s boat” then by all means go for it. In my case though, I’m not going to spend the rest of my life in a cubicle working for some old man who probably doesn’t even know my name. I’m a free spirit. I would rather be poor and happy, than be wealthy and stressed all the time. “Eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow you may die.” I love that quote. I live each day as if there isn’t going to be tomorrow. My philosophy, forget the past, forget the future, live for now. I have a freedom from worry. I’m not going to be locked in the cages of stress worrying about what tomorrow is going to bring. I will not be tied down by the bounds of society trying to make the world “happy” for the rest of my life. I’m free, in fact everyone is. Some people just choose to be and others don’t. I believe in freedom from anything that oppresses me. I will not follow the cliché path of life and live a mundane existence for the rest of my existence. I believe in freedom! And I will continue to live my life believing in it. FREEDOM!!!!
I don't agree with everything he say's, or does but I'm so proud of him... On my layout I marked Austin, TX. with a red dot and then put the yellow circle around it, because that is where he has chosen to be free....

Oh Christmas Tree!

I love Christmas. I like the decorating part better than the buying gifts part. There is no stress in decorating.... This year I decided i would have a tree with pink decorations, and so I've been busy making myself some ornaments. I posted my paper pincones earlier with a link to the instructions, I also made some pinwheels and I made a finnish star and you can find those instructions here. I have had more fun this season making these ornaments. They have so much detail and look so hard, but they are so easy... I have had both of my trees up for 4 weeks, so if you don't have your's up yet, you are behind.

Got Mojo?

The girls over at scrapmojo have posted yet another challenge. I love their ideas, so fun... This time you were to choose a quote from Alice in Wonderland as the title for your layout and use lace somewhere on your page... Here's mine...

I've been so busy with my Christmas ornaments that I hadn't scrapped in a while. It felt good to sit down and create some layouts this weekend. I also have to share a picture of my little weiner dog Lucy in her halloween costume. Yes, that is a hotdog... I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend, and woot woot on the time change... I was so ready....

Busy!!!

I've been to Austin Tx. twice in the last 2 weeks. That is 824 miles round trip, 6 1/2 hours (1 way) on a good day ! So I've been pretty busy preparing for both of those trips that I haven't had much scrappy time, but I'm putting my scrappy face back on and I'm getting down to business. I hope to have some new layouts posted soon. For now a picture of a Texas sunrise, this is what you get to see when your on the road at 4 o'clock in the morning....

Grad Announcements!

I know it's early for graduation announcements, but because I also take orders, I have to start this early to get them done by May. Anywho my step daughter is graduating in May so I've been working on a card for her. After several attempts I finally came up with a card that I love. I hope you like it.... Shannon

I've Been Scrappin!

and I have a new favorite layout. I spent the weekend at Serendipity. They had their first sketch-a-pa-looza, and it was so much fun. I didn't get to do as much as I wanted to, but I did partake in a few of the challenges, all based on sketches, with different twist and turns to go with them. So without further ado, here it is my new favorite layout.... I don't know why I love it so much, but it just works for some reason. Have a great day. I'll post again soon...

Scrap Mojo Challenge!!!

I love these challenges. I always get to do something that I would never do on my own, and it's so much fun. This weeks challenge: to use a bumper sticker saying on your layout, and to use plastic. Well I used the saying for my title, and for my plastic I used buttons. For those of you who want a fun challenge go check out the scrapmojo blog, you to will love it....

Scrap Mojo Challenge!!!

It's another challenge from the ladies over at scrapmojo. I just love their challenges, they are so much fun.... This one you had to use a title from School House Rock. You also had to use glitter on your page. I chose this picture of Jordie with her big tall knee socks and her green converse, I thought it was so appropriate for this title. My green letters are glittered... Although you can't tell I inked the edge of each side of my cardstock a different color....

Happy Birthday!

Yes, it's true. This beautiful girl came into my life 17 years ago and I haven't been the same since. I didn't think I could love her more than the moment I first saw her, but I love her more everyday. Mommy loves you Jordie! Have a great day!

Scrap Mojo Challenge

Here's another challenge from the girls over at scrapmojo. I just love their challenges. This one you had to use a page out of a book, any kind of book, I used a page out of a spiral notebook for the dragonfly's and then I used the holes. You also had to use the words "Say hello to my little friend" somewhere on the page. It's just pure fun. Its stuff that I wouldn't just do on my own. I guess that's why I like it so much...TFL

I've been PUBLISHED!!!

That feels good to say. I can't believe I didn't already mention it on here, but that's okay because now I can post the layout as well. Making Memories for you has an ezine and they have different calls each month, I just happened to come across the list and submitted a layout, the same day I received and e-mail from Frankie saying my layout was going to be used. YIPPEE!!! My family was proud, they wanted to know what I win! I said I'm being PUBLISHED! It's funny though everytime I win a contest or something they want to know what I win. I always tell them the same thing, the prize doesn't matter, its all about the win!!! Anyway thanks for looking, and have a great day!

My last few days of freedom!!!

Yes, you've heard it right. I return back to school on Thursday and the kids will return the following Tuesday. So by my calculations I have 4 days(ugh). This has been an awesome summer. I went a few places, did a few things, but mostly I scrapped and that was wonderful! So my final weekend has been more of the same, I spent the whole day yesterday scrapping and I will be doing the same today. I'm working on another fabric album, but this one is halloween themed, I'll share later. Here's a few layouts I did this weekend. I hope you enjoy and I'll post again before I go back to work. TFL

Fabric Album

I copied this idea off of Elizabeth Kartchner, CK scrapper of the year. I don't have the zutter, which is what she used to bind her album, but I love it the way I did it, and I think the results are great! This one is actually a 5x5, and between the fabric is some heavy cardstock. tfl

Another Challenge

This layout is for another challenge over at Scrap mojo. The guest mojo girl this week is Kerry Lynn. The challenge is to ask someone what they would do with a million dollars, and scrapbook about it, you also have to use a pen/pin somewhere on the page. I asked my daughter and her honesty just gets to me, that girl! If you can't read what she said I'm glad, because I wanted to hide it, we don't think the same way obviously. People can't believe she's my child, but I wouldn't take a million dollars for her, she lights up my life, and makes it a happy one. I love you Jordie...

It's Monday!

Happy New Week everybody. I had such a great week last week at the online crop at Scrapbookers Clubhouse, that I'm afraid I may be a little board this week, starting tomorrow. I started off today having to be a plumber, our lines were full of calcium so we had no water pressure on the cold water side, so my dad and I had to blow out the pipes. This is an ongoing thing that we actually paid a plumber about $700 bucks the first time it happened, but we watched and we learned and we now know how to do it ourselves. It lasted about a year since the last time we did it, which is good. We kinda forgot a couple of things since then and today was a little slow, until the lightbulb went on and we remembered our tricks. After my dad left I noticed the toilet valves in both bathrooms were screwed up and not functioning properly, so I marched down to the Home Depot picked up some new ones and had them replaced in about ten minutes, my husband will be happy that he doesn't have to do that when he gets home, its good to be married to a woman who can do everything! So here's to a peaceful rest of the week for myself and for all of you. I'm now off to do what I really love doing and that's scrappin. Have a great day.

Nothin but fun!!!

If you know me you know what that fun is, scrapbooking. I've been doing it all week, just about non-stop, except to eat and that sorta stuff. I've been over at Scrapbookersclubhouse at the online crop, and lets just say I'm having the time of my life. Those challenges just get me pumped up. Not to mention I get some pages done for my album. Right now I have a rather large stack of layouts sitting on my desk, its great!!!! This layout is from one of the challenges this week.... Have a great weekend, I'm off to create...

Monday, July 14, 2008

If your up for some fun!

Then you need to head on over to www.scrapbookersclubhouse.com for an online crop that is sure to keep you hopping. I spent the day over there and had a great time. It's going on the rest of the week for anyone who is interested...

Scrapbooker's clubhouse rocks!!! I just won the bi-weekly contest, and I'm so excited. They post a sketch every couple of weeks and have a contest based on the sketch. If you win you get to be the guest designer on a future sketch. You really should give it a try. www.scrapbookersclubhouse.com

Here's my layout

for the scrapmojo contest. The guest designer was elsie, so we had to do a layout featuring a song lyric from the Ditty Bops and doodle on the page. It was so much fun. It looks very much elsie inspired, but she's a great gal to be inspired by.... I chose lyrics from the Angel w/attitude, and they say:
i got a chip on my shoulder
and a halo on my head
im an angel with an attitude
and my favorite colors red

I'm back...

and very tired and grumpy... I just always come back from vacation that way. I thought it was suppose to be relaxing, but I some how tire myself out worse when I'm away. Maybe I should just stay home, I don't get as tired and it doesn't cost anything, it has its perks, and they always say there is no place like home, I must say I agree... Anyway I did have a good time and now I'm back home and back to scrapbookin, which is always a plus... I trust that everyone had a happy and safe 4th, and is enjoying the rest of their summer. Have a great day.

I'm outta here!!

I'm leaving tomorrow for the Riverwalk. You just have to love San Antonio, Tx. There is just something for everyone of all ages. I myself just prefer to chill out on and around the Riverwalk, but there's a zoo, sea world, six flags, shopping and all kinds of good stuff, especially great food... If I'm lucky I'll also check out a couple of scrapbook stores. Everyone have a great 4th..... Shannon

I'm on a mission.

To get published, so I'm attempting CK's Becky's sketch, we'll see. This layout took me forever because I kept over analysing every little detail, (probably the reason I don't submit things, too critical of myself) but I love it. I doodled a fact about my girl on each tag. It's really a simple layout, I just wanted it to be perfect. Happy Scrappin...

What's Happening???

Not much. I've actually been a little sick, so I haven't done much in a couple of day's. I did manage to come up with a layout for my submission for the American Crafts dt, we'll see what happens. I still need one more layout, they want two. I'm hoping I do better than I did with Cosmo. I'll just give it a try and see what happens. Everyone have a great weekend.

I've been scrappin!

and that's all i've been doing. Non stop! My area is a mess, but I'm having the time of my life. I'm so glad school is out and that I'm able to be home and do whatever I want, which is scrappin. I'm working on a few different projects right now, trying to catch up before I go back to work in August, not that I get behind because if I'm not at work I'm scrappin, it's a well balanced life. It's my life, and I love it...

Back from GASC!!!

I had the time of my life. Took some classes, spent some money, saw a ballgame, ate too much. This was my second year going and I must say this time was so much better than last year. I went with a good friend, and exposed her to the real world of scrappin, she will never be the same, but that's what friends are for... I know I wasn't holding many bags in this picture, but I had already made several trips to the car when this picture was taken...

GASC! This Weekend!

So I'm off tomorrow morning for the Great American Scrapbook Convention, YIPPEE!!! I went last year, but took a teenager and didn't have enough fun. So this year my friend and I will be going and taking a couple of classes, doing a lot of shopping, and I think we will even be going to Ranger Stadium for a ballgame. She goes for the nachos, I go because I like to sing "take me out to the ballgame", really you can't expect much more from girls... So I'm hoping for an event filled, hip and happening good time, and I will take pictures to post when I return. Have a great weekend.

Finally!

You have to love a Texas sunrise. Well I finally did it . I broke down and started my own blog. We'll see how well I keep it up. I have plenty to say. Lord knows I can't keep my mouth shut. My intention for this blog is just to post a bunch of different things about what I like and do. So basically you'll be hearing about scrapbooking and my kids, and you'll see some recipes from time to time, and hopefully a lot of layouts and pictures of those I love. Enjoy!
